Restoring Water Damage in a Lake Worth Kitchen
When a ceiling leak began in the plumbing above this Lake Worth kitchen, the room was quickly overwhelmed by migrating standing water and moisture concerns. While the ceiling materials and wall systems bore the brunt of this damage, many restorative actions were necessary for our SERVPRO team to make this “Like it never even happened.” Once this area resident contacted our restoration team, we arrived that same day to begin vital mitigation and water clean-up.
Protecting What Matters Most
Once water overwhelmed ceiling drywall, excessive amounts found their way to the floors and spread through the hallway towards the living room. In the path of this migrating water were appliances, furniture, and other contents that could have been thoroughly damaged by prolonged moisture exposure. Our Content Claim Inventory Service (CCIS) removed several items from the condo and cataloged their condition. The inventory of affected contents ensures that we have an accurate list of what items are in our care and where they are at all times through restoration and cleaning.
Controlled Demolition for this Lake Worth Home
As you can see in the Before Photo, our SERVPRO professionals arrived at a home where much of the ceiling in the kitchen had already collapsed under the weight of water absorption. Removing these bulk materials and debris was vital to fully inspect the property and determine the restoration needs. We used moisture meters to determine what materials were too severely impacted to remain installed and promptly removed and discarded them.
Removing Water from Tile Floors
Minimal pooling and puddling existed on the tile floors, mainly due to the rapid absorption of the exposed sheetrock materials. With low porosity ceramic tile flooring, saturation into the concrete below was not a considerable concern, making portable extractors like wet vacuums with light wands sufficient for managing any surface moisture. Mopping and towel drying would also be used to complete the surface water removal and restore the functionality of the flooring so that more complex drying and repair needs could get met.
Thorough Drying for Metal Framing and Ceiling Systems
With how wildly the water damage spread to drywall panels on the wall systems of the kitchen, the surface materials had to be entirely removed. When down to the metal framing, thorough drying was critical. These tract framing systems are vulnerable to rusting and deterioration with moisture exposure, so the placement of air movers and dehumidifiers played a vital part in removing damp pockets and preparing the residence for the reconstruction efforts to come.
Reconstruction to Meet Our High Standards
While the After Photo does not show the finished product, we reinstalled removed structural elements as promptly as possible following the completed drying. Once the Lake Worth condo was stripped down to its metal framing, reinstallation of drywall was the start of putting the pieces back together. Our professionals matched painted surfaces when finishing and resurfacing drywall so that our customers could not tell what was new and what was not.
